Vertical gel
In-Form Retarder for steel, plastic and smooth molds for exposed aggregate

Vertical Gel Retarder is a ready to use, water based green Gel which reveals aggregate in fresh concrete by delaying the surface set, so that the mortar paste may be brushed and washed away from between the aggregate particles to produce an attractive exposed aggregate finish. Used on steel, plastic, and smooth mold surfaces for patio stones, bird baths, spindles, etc... Vertical Gel has excellent vertical cling and can be used in all vertical applications including steps, curbs, walls or anywhere an exposed aggregate concrete finish is wanted on a vertical surface. Also used for preparing concrete construction joints for better bonding.

TECHNICAL DATA

Appearance - Green Gel.
Specific gravity - 0.98
Viscosity - applicable with sponge, brush, cloth.
 Totally Environmentally Friendly

Vertical Gel  Retarder is Non staining, Fast Drying, Non corrosive and  Non flammable. Safe and easy to use, with guaranteed results. Specially formulated for use with difficult forms and molds made of plastic, steel. Vertical gel  will retard the set of the surface cement normally 12 - 48 hours when applied as directed. The setting time will be influenced by air temperature, cement type, content and slump. If the surface is not washed off within 24-48 hours the surface concrete will set and reach full strength. A trial run is recommended before general application to determine timing and the depth of etch required.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Vertical Gel is ready to use. Be sure all form materials are  dry and clear of debris. Using a sponge, brush or cloth, smear Gel onto affected areas of formwork to be exposed.  It is important that forms don't get wet after being applied. Vertical Gel has been designed to be fast drying and will dry onto most form surfaces within 20 minutes. Including steel, plastic, smooth plywood, dura-forms and  softwoods. Vertical Gel has been formulated to be easy to use, with excellent results every time. Vertical Gel is totally environmentally friendly.  Place concrete in formwork (3 parts cement, 4 parts sand, 6 parts aggregate by volume is a typical mix) Protect the coated surface from abrasion when placing concrete.. Within 12 - 24 hours after application remove form work and proceed to remove  retarded vertical  layer of mortar with a stiff broom and garden hose water, leaving a clean exposed aggregate surface. If extremely small aggregate is used, it is important not to start the wash off too early, as bare spots may be created.
