GPL Links
Every driver should read the GPLAC Recommended Driver Behaviour to explain the do's and don't when racing on-line with GPL.
To create the 1967 Formula Vee chassis and engine combinations you will need to install the GEM+2 (GPL Engine Management) program. You can get GEM+2 here. Gem+2 is also used for switching between 1965 and 1967 physics and graphics.
A good place to start creating your properly patched GPL directory is with the famous "all-in-one" patch that contains the FIVE (gulp!) major patches that you must have before proceeding with the Mod65 and Mod69 patches. You get the "all-in-one" patch here. It includes the GPL 1.2.01 patch, the D3D and OpenGl patches, the Disco Fix patch and the Fast CPU patch (all applied in the correct order).
Complete instructions and downloads for installing 'Mod65' are available for those of you that wish to race the 1965 graphics and physics.
Complete instructions and downloads for installing 'Mod69' are available for those of you that wish to race the 1969 graphics (with wings) and physics From this link you have access to the GEM+2.3.52 that you need to create the 69 mod physics..
The "carsbehind" patch (or "bandwidth" patch) can be found at Bart Westra's GPL Garage. This is a mandatory patch that must be applied before you can race on our standard race servers. The "carsbehind patch" allows you to see five cars ahead of you and three cars behind you during online racing, instead of th GPL default of four ahead and one behind. If you do not apply this patch, you will likely be immediately disconnected by our race server. Applying the patch does not affect your connection with other race servers that do not require it.
For racing online, you need to go to the Virtual Racers Online Connection (VROC), download the VROC program, point VROC to your GPL directory, establish your chat name, add a GPLF3R chatroom (no password). The VROC Home Page can be found here. Note: VROC is intended to be replaced by the new program IGOR (introduced with the 65 mod). However, The Regulars are still using VROC until such time as the bugs are worked out of IGOR. IGOR can be found at the official 65Mod update site. VROC can be downloaded from The Regulars Files Section in our Yahoo Forum.
To see how you compare to the other drivers check out GPL Rank and register yourself as an F2-3 driver by putting "F2-3" somewhere in your login name (i.e. JohnSmith_F2-3), then upload your player.ini file from your GPL F2-3 driver folder. Don't forget to affiliate yourself with the league (you can affiate your any of your drivers (FV, F3, F1, etc) with the league).
Check out Time zone Converter to help sort out when 7:30 EST is in your time zone (ask what time it is "america/montreal"). It's better than the clocks on VROC since it takes daylight savings time into account.
If you are just starting with GPL go to the Beginner's Guide to GPL. Go to Papyrus to get the 1.2.01 , the disconnect patches and the Fast CPU Patch (if you are running 1.7GHz+ cpu).
Tracks:
You should find everything you need at the
GPL Tracks Database Website.
If you have more than the maximum allowed number of active tracks (ie 64 tracks in your
67season.ini file), then you will need the GEM1+ utility to deactiveate some tracks and activeate new tracks. This utility can be found in the files section of our forum.
Download a Race Replay:
Race Replays can be downloaded from SMIserver following each race using FTP.
Here are some simple FTP instructions.
The replays will be in this format ...
"FVR_zandvort_race.rpy" (eg. Formula Vee, The Regulars league)
and may be zipped.
Race replays will only be kept as long as space allows.
