iRacing Point Structure
iRacing Division Points
The championship is determined by the driver's points total at the end of the season. Depending on the length of the season and the time of year of the championship, some of each driver's worst points results may be dropped from their totals (see the Standings Table for number of races and number of race results dropped). This is to allow for vacations, family time, sickness etc. Points will be awarded as per the table below. Points are awarded by finishing position and are independent of the car driven.
Each series is scored separately.
Incident Penalty Points -
Points will be deducted based on the number of incidents incurred
during a race session. Specifically a point will be deducted for
every 2 incidents. So 0-1 incidents results on no deduction of
points, 2-3 incidents is a 1 point deduction, 4-5 is a 2 point
deduction, and so on. The penalty points will be subtracted from the
driver's points winnings after each race. A driver cannot receive
negative points in a race, so if this happens, his points score will
be set to zero for that race. However any driver that achieves an
excessive number of incidents, as determined by the stewards, may be
required to explain why it happened.
Incidents will be
determined by the iRacing server. It is the responsibility of the
driver to determine the limits of the track boundary prior to racing,
either through practice or test sessions.
Team Points – Team points will be the total of the individual driver points at the end of the season (does not include any dropped race points of individual drivers).
