The Paul Newman Cup
Introduced in August 2005, the Paul Newman Cup will be presented each season
to the highest scoring driver at season end who is aged 50 or over.
This award was originally for the "senior" competitors in the Formula Vee
division of The Regulars On-Line Racing League, however starting in 2007 the award goes to
the rFactor division with the creation of the Tom Delaney Award for the FV division.
Upon declaration of their eligibility,
drivers will be enrolled in this prestigious competition.
Paul Newman, at the age of 80, is a true racing sportsman and hero and he was
still driving competitively in his 70's.
His sponsorship in Champ Car has arguably kept that series running over the turbulent years.
Paul Newman is an inspiration to the "over the hill" crowd.
A "Newman Cup" winner is a superior driver for his age and has proven that he can overcome the ravages of time, including, but not limited to, arthritis, bursitis, forgetfulness, neural and muscular degeneration, forgetfulness, memory lapses and finally, what was the last one?... oh yes, forgetfulness.
Remember, there are "old" drivers and there are "bold" drivers but there are no "old and bold" drivers.
